Anybody who is on the internet, watches tv, takes in the morning/afternoon/nightly news, listens to the radio, walks across the street, talks to people, eats, drinks, pays bills, wears clothes, uses the restroom…knows the world has all sorts of crazy going on and especially with current laws being passed you can be left scratching your head and wonder – what is wrong with the world today?
And this brings me today’s Music Monday song!
Since the news broke out this past Thursday about Prince’s death, I’ve been in this state of mourning for someone I didn’t know and never got to see live in concert. There have been countless celebrity deaths, especially musician deaths this year alone, and never has one affected me quite like this one. Not even Michael Jackson’s death affected me the way Prince has. I didn’t even cry when Michael Jackson died. I’ve cried quite a few times since news broke out whenever I hear some of Prince’s music and see tributes for him.
Based on the weekend of running I just had, this song absolutely captured it best! The first time I heard “Move Your Body” by Sia there was no doubt I was going to make it a Music Monday song because it’s hands down one GREAT running song! It’s fast and tells you exactly what you need to do. That’s right, move your body.
This song isn’t officially released so there is no actual video for it, but enjoy the audio and then go get your run on!!!
Enjoy and thanks for listening!
There has been a brief break in the Music Monday postings and while it wasn’t exactly intentional, it has been a little necessary. Life has been treading on the hectic and busy side, not to mention a shifting side (I’ll get to that in the next post), and sadly Music Monday did not make my high priority list, unfortunately. But I have a slew of songs I’ve been listening to that I’ll say, have lit up my running mojo again! Starting with this one…and this song couldn’t have been more fitting for the current state of my life.
Starting last week’s training after running the Run Deo Run 50K, I knew I’d have some challenges. Having a couple of days off would be expected for me and it would leave Wednesday to run. At least that was the initial plan…until I was faced with seeing The Boss.
It’s funny how the next post I have after last week’s Music Monday is another Music Monday. Okay, maybe not that funny. In between last Monday and this Monday, there’s been a lot of nothing, and a lot of something going on. Things I’ve yet to get around writing about, but until then, enjoy this great running song!
In case you were wondering where Music Monday was, well wonder no more. The past couple of weeks have been pretty busy in my corner and I couldn’t muster up the energy or time to write them up. Sorry. I hope you didn’t have too many sleepless nights concerned if Music Monday was coming back. Well, it is!
Today’s Music Monday was pretty much a no-brainer. Considering next Sunday is the LA Marathon, I had to go with “I Love LA” by Randy Newman since it’s the song that sends off the runners through 26.2 miles of Los Angeles! More specifically, Downtown LA, Echo Park, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood, Brentwood, and Santa Monica on the “Stadium to the Sea” course.
Last week when I was fighting a bout with insomnia there was one song which immediately popped in my head simply because of the very first line. Darn youuu Passenger!!
Last week I was one of millions of people shocked and in disbelief upon hearing the news David Bowie had died. Even if someone wasn’t a fan of his music, nobody could ever deny the impact he had on music, and how he truly was one of the most creative imaginative visionaries of our time. One of my favorite songs by him is “Heroes” and it’s today’s Music Monday post.
